Men's Tennis Drops Season Finale to Albertus Magnus
NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Albertus Magnus College men's tennis team cruised to a 9-0 win over Mitchell College on Monday afternoon in the regular season finale for both teams at the Mack Tennis Courts.
Mitchell forfeited points at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles, though it had little bearing on the match. Albertus Magnus won both doubles points by 8-1 finals before taking all but one singles point in straight sets.
Pete Zacharias defeated Michael Edwards by a final of 6-0, 6-3 at the No. 1 singles spot. Ross Suleski earned a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 2 while Jeff Pellegrino dropped only one game in a victory at No. 3. Mathew Mezzei topped Anthony Drake 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4 and Dan Constantinidi battled back from a set down to clip Zack Rocheleau 5-7, 6-2, 6-3 at No. 5.
The Falcons finished the season with an overall record of 8-2 while the Mariners wrapped up at 6-7.
