Men's Tennis Rebounds Against Wheelock
NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Mitchell College men's tennis team snapped a three-game losing skid with a 9-0 victory over Wheelock College on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action at the Mitchell Tennis Courts.
The Mariners (5-4 overall) dropped only four total games in a doubles sweep before winning all six singles matches, only one of which went past two sets.
The tightest singles match of the day came at the top spot between Adam Diaz and Matthew Brown. Brown won the first set 7-5 before Diaz rallied back to take the second 6-2. The two then played a 10-point tiebreaker in lieu of a third set, with Diaz winning 10-7 to take the point.
The rest of singles was clear sailing for the Mariners. Orson Sinclair won at No. 2 by 6-1, 6-1 finals over Jill Crane while Michael Berman blanked Pablo Tovar at No. 3. Michael Edwards, Chris McKeon and Zack Rocheleau closed out the remaining singles spots to all post wins on Senior Day.
Mitchell will next play at Becker College on Monday, April 20 at 4 p.m. Wheelock completed its spring season with an overall record of 1-11.
