Men's Tennis Shuts Out Becker
LEICESTER, Mass. – The Mitchell College men's tennis team shut out Becker College by a 9-0 final on Saturday afternoon.
The Mariners (4-2 overall, 2-1 NECC) posted their fourth shutout of the season and second in conference play. The match began with Mitchell capturing all three doubles points, with junior Kyle Carmona and sophomore Rocco Devona setting the pace with an 8-3 win at No. 1. Juniors Tyler Engleberg and Alexander Fusco teamed for an 8-2 win at No. 2 while senior Adam Samuels and junior Andrew Small won at No. 3 by an 8-3 final.
Mitchell kept the momentum rolling in singles play, sweeping through all six spots without dropping a set. Carmona defeated Jake Gilbert (6-0, 6-2) at the top spot while Devona downed Tim Howard (6-3, 6-1) at No. 2.
Mitchell will next host Albertus Magnus College on Wednesday, April 13 at 3:30 p.m.
