17 Mitchell Student-Athletes Named to Fall NECC Academic All-Conference Team
ATTLEBORO, Mass. - A total of 153 student-athletes, including 17
from Mitchell College, have been named to the New England
Collegiate Conference (NECC) Academic All-Conference Team for the
fall 2009 semester, it was announced last week by
Commissioner Del Malloy.
The NECC began its inaugural year in 2008 with nine full-time
members including Bay Path College (Longmeadow, Mass.), Becker
College (Leicester, Mass.), Daniel Webster College (Nashua, N.H.),
Elms College (Chicopee, Mass.), Lesley University (Cambridge,
Mass.), Mitchell College (New London, Conn.), Newbury College
(Brookline, Mass.), Southern Vermont College (Bennington, Vt.) and
Wheelock College (Boston, Mass.).
Representing the Mariners were senior Eric Appleby (men's cross
country), junior Steven Barnett (men's soccer), junior Jennifer
Bordonaro (women's volleyball), junior Matt Chatell (men's golf),
junior Paige Ehnot (women's soccer), junior Kailee Hyde (women's
cross country), junior John Hoffman (men's cross country), junior
Morgan Lindsay (women's soccer), sophomore Tad Maynard (men's
golf), sophomore Ricardo Mclean (men's soccer), sophomore Brittany
O'Neil (women's soccer), sophomore Richard Palaia (men's golf),
sophomore Shannen Pelletier (women's soccer), junior John
Pescheta (men's golf), senior Heather-Renae Powers (women's
volleyball), senior Kelly Reynolds (women's volleyball) and junior
Brittany Smyth (women's cross country).
To be eligible for NECC Academic All-Conference, a student-athlete
must post a minimum grade point average of 3.40 on a scale of 4.00
and must be a sophomore or higher in class standings.
Student-athletes who competed in men's and women's cross country,
field hockey, golf, men's and women's soccer, women's tennis
and women's volleyball were eligible for the fall NECC Academic
All-Conference Team.
