Mariners Land 13 on NECC Academic All-Conference Team
ATTLEBORO, Mass. - A total of 169 student-athletes,
including 13 from Mitchell College, were named to
the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Academic
All-Conference Team for the fall
2012 semester.
Representing the Mariners were junior Drew Castagna (men's cross
country), sophomore Jordan Cook (men's soccer), junior Chris Heller
(men's golf), senior Malorie Klieber (women's soccer), junior
Alexa Litwak (women's tennis), sophomore Chris McKeon (men's cross
country), junior Carly Paterson (women's tennis), sophomore
Breanna Poirier (women's cross country & women's soccer),
sophomore Jennifer Schmidt (women's tennis), junior Zachary Simmons
(men's soccer), senior Rebecca Tabak (women's soccer), senior
Arianna Thomas (women's volleyball) and junior Taylor Zaldivar
(men's golf). Castagna, Klieber, Thomas and Zaldivar all earned the
honor for the second time in their careers, while Tabak is a
three-time selection for her sport.
To be eligible for NECC Academic All-Conference, a
student-athlete must post a minimum grade point average of 3.40 on
a scale of 4.00 and must be a sophomore or higher in class
standings. Student-athletes who competed in men’s and
women’s cross country, men's golf, field hockey, men's
and women's soccer, women's tennis and women's volleyball were
eligible for fall NECC Academic All-Conference honors.
