Mariners Place 12 on NECC Winter/Spring Academic All-Conference Team
ATTLEBORO, Mass. - A total of 210 student-athletes, including 12 from Mitchell College, were named to the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Academic All-Conference Team for the 2017 spring semester.
Representing the Mariners were sophomore Peter Abate (baseball), junior Samantha DelConte (softball), junior Tiana Edwards (women's basketball), junior Megan Elphick (softball), junior Jack Finnegan (baseball), sophomore Rolando Marcano (baseball), sophomore Kate McCormack (women's basketball and lacrosse), Francesca Pinard (women's basketball and lacrosse), sophomore Domenico Santiago (men's basketball), sophomore Jacob Setzko (men's lacrosse), senior Jessica Shepherd (women's basketball) and junior Brian Stanczuk (baseball).
A total of eight Mariners were first-time spring honorees. Edwards, Finnegan and DelConte were all repeat selections while Shepherd earned the distinction for the third time in her career.
To be eligible for NECC Academic All-Conference, a student-athlete must post a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.40 on a scale of 4.00 and must be a sophomore or higher in class standing. Student-athletes who competed in men's and women's basketball, men's volleyball, men's and women's lacrosse, baseball, softball and men's tennis were eligible for winter/spring NECC academic honors.
